Chronic Illness/Pain Conditions Caused by Chronic Stress

Being stuck on a sympathetic dominant state (fight/slight/freeze) puts you at high risk for developing many health challenges, including but not limited to:

Autoimmune Diseases such as: Rheumatoid Arthritis, Lupus, Sjogrens Hashimotos/Graves Disease, Myasthenia Gravis, Psoriasis/PSA, MS etc.

Hormone imbalances impact everything from: thyroid function, adrenal function, hypothalamus function, pituitary function, sex hormones, growth hormones, and the function of all glands that secrete hormones and the organs they regulate.

Mental Health: Anxiety/Panic Disorders, Depression, PTSD/CPTSD and amplifying existing mental health challenges such as ADHD, OCD, PTSD/CPTSD, Mood Disorders, Eating Disorders etc.

Digestive and GI related Disorders

Headaches, Migraines, Cluster Headaches

Heart Disease, Dysautonomia

Metabolic Disorders including Weight Management issues, Type 2 Diabetes

Sleep Disorders

Brain Fog, Memory, and concentration issues.

Increased symptoms related to genetic disorders such as Ehlers Danlos Syndrome (EDS)

Mast Cell Activation Syndrome

Chemical Sensitivity Syndrome

And much more … and I suspect even more than we are currently aware of.

Notes: Within Oncology, and in professions that provide services to or in support of cancer patients the link between cancers and chronic stress are undeniable. However, while formal research has stopped just short of declaring chronic stress as the cause of cancer, research has proven that chronic stress exacerbates and causes the rapid growth and spread of many cancers, and it has identified that chronic stress is a risk factor due to its creation of inflammation through out the body and its impact on suppressing immune system function.

Research has also shown chronic stress to impact epigenetics, turning on and off gene expression impacting physical, mental, and emotional health and wellness. Essentially epigenetics is like each gene having its very own on and off switch.

Therefore, genetics can only tell us that we may develop specific conditions / diseases / disorders / syndromes. When gene expression is switched on, we experience the signs or symptoms that correspond with that gene(s). When genes that promote longevity, health and wellness are turned on that is what we experience, when genes that promote illness get turned on that is what we experience. When we turn off genes associated with disease western medicine declares we are in spontaneous remission (as opposed to remission achieved by taking medications which suppress symptoms).
